While most claim that “festival season” begins in March, we know events go down year round. But since Coachella is soon we need to prep everyone for the year. thepineapple crew are no strangers to raving around the world and we asked some of the peeps which festival they love the most. From Chicago to the Great Wall of China (oh yes), here are the best music festivals in the world, in our opinion.

Charles - Electric Forest

Have you ever heard of Electric Forest? It's this amazing music and arts festival that takes place every year in the lush forests (hence the name) of Rothbury, Michigan. Also a favorite of mine (Liz, the author of this article) the festival has this incredible energy that's just so infectious - you can feel that things have gone down in these woods. The stages are surrounded by trees and beautiful art installations and so many lights, which create this immersive environment that's truly one-of-a-kind. Sustainability is also a huge focus at Electric Forest, which just adds to the sense of community and togetherness that permeates the entire festival. If you ever get the chance to go, we highly recommend it - it's an experience you'll never forget.

Sandy - All Day I Dream

This one is for the techno and house heads specifically. All Day I Dream was founded by the legendary DJ Lee Burridge, and it's famous for its enchanting and ethereal ambiance that transports you to a dreamy wonderland. The festival takes place during the day, allowing the warmth of the sun to embrace you as you dance and sway to the mesmerizing beats. The venues where it's held are carefully chosen to create an atmosphere that complements the music, and it's always a treat for the senses. The community at All Day I Dream is one of the friendliest and most inclusive we’ve ever encountered, and the whole experience is just so uplifting and joyful.

T2 - Lightning in a Bottle

What sets Lightning in a Bottle festival apart is its unique blend of music, art, wellness, and sustainability. Unlike other festivals that may focus solely on music or art, Lightning in a Bottle seeks to create a holistic experience that nourishes the mind, body, and soul. The festival offers a wide variety of workshops, classes, and talks on topics such as yoga, meditation, nutrition, and environmentalism, providing attendees with opportunities to learn and grow beyond just the music and entertainment. Additionally, Lightning in a Bottle is committed to sustainability and eco-consciousness, with initiatives such as composting, recycling, and the use of renewable energy sources. All of these elements come together to create a festival that is truly one-of-a-kind, fostering a sense of community, connection, and personal transformation among its attendees.

Liz - Lollapalooza Chicago

There are fewer true city festivals in the USA like Lollapalooza. Located right in the heart of Grant Park in Chicago, you are either taking the train or walking there because it’s that easy to get around. But it’s also not for the faint of heart: the length of Lolla is over 1 mile long so you definitely are putting in the steps - and it’s 4 days long! Also unique for music festivals. What truly sets it apart from other festivals though is its incredible lineup of diverse artists. Every genre is represented - like Coachella. I’ve been twice and the lineups are the best I’ve ever seen strictly for there being “something for everyone.” Most of the festivals on this list offer camping but Lolla is just a good ol’ fashioned park event.

Elizabeth - EDC Vegas

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas is the largest dance music festival - based on attendance - in America. So you already know how important this event is for the genre. This one-of-a-kind music festival sets itself apart from others through its unparalleled dedication to creating a magical, immersive experience for its attendees. EDC Vegas is a sensory overload, featuring some of the biggest names in electronic dance music (EDM), breathtaking stage productions, and mesmerizing light displays that transport you to another world. I worked for Insomniac Events back in the day and it really is all about the attendees. They go above and beyond with the safety procedures, 24/7 social media customer service and so much more to make sure everyone has a good time and makes it home ok. With its vibrant costumes, carnival rides, and awe-inspiring art installations, EDC Vegas is a place where self-expression is celebrated and individuality is embraced. This festival isn't just about the music, it's about creating unforgettable memories with friends and strangers alike, and experiencing a sense of connection and belonging that is truly special.

Tuan - Second Sky Fest

Founded by the legendary electronic musician Porter Robinson, Second Sky Festival is a celebration of music, art, and connection that immerses attendees in an intimate and welcoming environment. The festival features a carefully curated lineup of cutting-edge artists, ranging from indie pop to experimental electronic music, with each performance delivering an unforgettable experience. Its intimate size creates a sense of intimacy that is rare in larger festivals, making it a truly special experience for everyone who goes.

Jeanette - Day Zero Fest

Another festival helmed by DJ and producer, this one is by Damian Lazarus. Day Zero Festival takes place in the heart of the Tulum jungle, Mexico, and draws inspiration from Mayan mythology and traditions. It’s very difficult to not get caught up in the vibe when you’re there. The festival is a celebration of electronic music, art, and mysticism. Through various immersive art installations, shamanic rituals, and sustainable practices, Day Zero Festival provides a platform for people to connect with themselves, others, and the environment around them.

Haddy - Yin Yang festival

Yin Yang Festival is a unique and awe-inspiring music festival that takes place on the Great Wall of China. The festival is named after the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang, which emphasizes the balance and harmony between opposing forces in nature. The event features a lineup of both international and local electronic music artists, who take to the stage against the stunning backdrop of one of the world's most iconic architectural wonders. The festival offers a truly immersive experience, with a range of cultural activities and installations that celebrate the intersection of music, art, and history. Attendees can explore the Great Wall during the day and dance beneath the stars at night, all while experiencing the magic of this incredible event. Yin Yang Festival is a testament to the power of music and culture to bring people together, transcending language and borders to create a truly unforgettable experience for all who attend.

Rob - Bangers Only Klub

Bangers Only Klub threw an intimate multi day party in the California desert. The production and accommodations were only topped by the lovely people raging through the night. It was an a lifting exercise for my mind, body, and soul. I can’t wait for the next one!
