420 smoke & stretch: Energizing (part 2 of 4)

An energizing stretch that you can do in 4:20 minutes or less!

Did you know that the time between 2-5pm is associated with the element of Air? That’s why you might feel a little spacey and find yourself in an afternoon slump. For your 420 smoke and stretch break, instead of reaching for a cup of coffee, how about trying some of these poses?

YOGA POSE: SIDE BEND

  • Props: None
  • Main Points in Posture:
    • This pose lengthens the abdominal muscles, hips, and thighs. It stretches the muscles between the ribs (intercostal muscles). Tight intercostals can weaken your posture and could bring tension to your neck and shoulders. Shortened muscles = shortened breath. 
    • Additionally, they help to stretch the abs and digestive organs. 
    • Be mindful not to back bend too much.
